Rolling motion

Post by Birotor »

I am sure that some where in the forum there is a mention of a very strange side to side motion (like a ship rolling) in a BX. A friend in the US has a similar thing in his GS but I cannot find the reference so since the two suspensions are similar - OK double wishbone on the GS front and modified Macpherson on the BX ( the rears are essentially the same in both ) and the height correction is essentially doing the same function it seems worth asking here if we have ever had this on a BX or have I read about it some where else!

I agree and reckon it was mentioned not in the BX Forum but in the CCC magazine
in the Xantia section. I have spoken to UK Activa specialists (BL
Autos Ltd) who are old friends and worked extensively on GSs IN
PERIOD and did my GS Birotor for the previous owner. I have sent the following to my American GS Friend:
"This was a KNOWN GS problem and is associated with a defective tire or a buckled wheel.
So check the tires for deformed treads and side wall bulges and the
wheel rims are running absolutely true and no play in an any suspension
bearings and wheel bearings. When I see Rob M of Chevronics at the
ICCCR2012 I ll discuss it further."

Strangely enough, I finally managed to get round to finishing this months mag, and this rolling is apparently a known issue with the Hydractive 3 system - I think I'll stick with the good old system we use!
