sump nut key

Post by Mickey taker »

what size is it and can you get just the one you need ? or do you have to buy the silly halfords set for £20.00 containing 4 or 5 you know you will never use.

any known alternative to the proper tool ?
thanks

Yep, 8mm, I ground 2mm off 2 adjacent sides of a length of 10mm key-steel, then clamped it in moles. Good enough. (Or grind down an old 3/8 short extension)

Just point out that there are at least two differant sump bolt types fitted. Helpful to know if it is a Hex, square insert or whatever.

That will be 8mm square - A/F then Mick !
Heres just an 8MM with a 3/8 drive or a double end 8mm/13mm type which you use with a 19mm A/F socket/spanner

Just for your info the square shaft that joins the inner and outer knobs on your house doors is 8mm and can be bought at any diy or ironmongers shop, or if it's Sunday afternoon and you're stuck borrow one out ot the kitchen door. :o
