speakers - anywhere but Halfrauds?

Post by tim »

The speakers have given up in the Red one. I assumed that the standard 4-screw type would be available off the shelf but my old local car radio shop had disappeared and Halfords had about three speakers on show, none the right size and all at silly money. Any ideas where I can get a new pair at a sensible price?? Presumably online.....?

I can't say anything about prices but I've dealt with this company for the best part of forty years and I doubt anyone knows more about in car entertainment the them

I bought some JVC ones for around £15 from Motorworld for mine - it was a couple of years back so may be slightly more now.

They slotted in quite well behind the grills in the door, and I don't think I even had to redrill the mounts.

The Alpine SXE-1325 s take a lot of beating for the money. Better sound than the originals too. Lots on ebay. Buy.

That's what I have in my red one, and am very happy with the sound too.

Maplin had straight replacements when I needed some a few years ago, but they were on offer, normally
probably a bit expensive for what they are.

I've seen other efforts where they have actually had to either cut the cover grill to accommodate the tweeter, or just leave them off.
However these

Ah - my mistake. I actually have the Alpine SXE-1350S, which are not coaxial.

They fit as though they were designed for the BX - the original yellow connector on the door loom just plugs straight in, and the tweeter is dead easy to mount in the dash (although you will need to connect it to the original leads somehow).

I don't know the specific model no. of the tweeters, but they came as a set, boxed as SXE-1350S.
