Good news with the garage, they didn't charge me anything to look at the car and I got it back without having to part with any cash. The nicer of the three chaps there even gave me a quarter bottle of LHM so I could get the car to the shop that sold it. The bad news is that the pipe has now broken off the height corrector entirely and the car is losing a lot of LHM very quickly.

Hartwell said the part would have to come in from France, and I had to pay in advance (£75) so I'm stuck with waiting for them for the time being. I will report back once I hear from them and if they can't get the part in I'll try the place you did once I get my money back.

My local stealer does this too for these parts from France - if it never arrives they refund you... seems like a lot has to come from abroad now if they don't have any old stock but they don't seem to be able to check on actual stock until they place an order and find out later that it really has gone for good!?

I think they are giving you the bums rush mate, collected all 3 octopus bits fron Tun Wells main Citroen dealer, Thames Group[Tunbridge Wells] Ltd 3 days after i ordered them.

You shouldnt have to wait to pay that much.

Suggest you cancel the order and do it yourself as long as you have the correct part no.

Ime dead impressed to be able to get the lot so quickly and it seems there's plenty more in stock as i asked.

Just checked the hose sizes. Its a 3mm hose from end to end so if all else fails you will be able splice in a new length of silicon or fuel hose.
You could even just run a new length and put it temporarily in the top of the LHM tank.
There is/was a Citroen specialist in Sandford on Thames. He used to specialise in XMs. Dunno if its still there or if they have expertise any longer in hydraulic cars.
Good luck anyway.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

Update on this, Hartwell managed to get the part in so hopefully it will be fitted sometime this week and i'll have my car back. Have really missed being able to drive it.

I don't know of anyone local to you, but Frontlines in Chesterfield replaced both of my octopi on my txd & agreed 4hrs labout @ £50p/h to do the lot, which i thought was a decent deal. I was worried that if they did the one (they quoted 3hrs labour), then if the other one went, that would then be another 3hrs labour at another time, so just cheaper & safer to get both done at the same time, so i don't need to worry about them for another 20yrs :)

If you get desperate, i'll give you their contact details (mention me by name & car) & you could visit the Historic market town for the day whilst getting the work done :)

I took the car back to air cooled simply due to it being the nearest place I know, and with the rate the car is losing LHM I don't want to be driving anywhere far. Will update when I get it back, hope it all works out ok.

Yeah, it's good to have the BX back, I was dreading having to find a new car when they told me i'd never find a replacement harness. I want to keep this car going as long as I can really.
