Lower engine link question

Post by KevR »

You know, the bit that goes between the subframe and the bottom engine mount.
Are they still available?
Or does anyone know of a replacement bush that will fit (the small end nearest the subframe) - just taken one off and the bush is mush.

After a bit of research turns out these bushes are available on the aftermarket. QH part number is EM2007, available from redlinecarparts.com for £2.51 each (although so far I haven't been able to order any as it won't let me change the country for postage to UK because the website's clever enough to recognise I'm in France, but not clever enough to realise I might want them sent somewhere else...).

The Berlingo one Malcolm's listed MAY be the right one (in fact I think it is) but beware, there are quite a few very similar lower links, and some of them have a very different bush (the inner sleeve protrudes a lot further. If you go for a complete link beware as well - some that look identical turn out to have differently spaced mounting holes. I found this out having bought what I thought was the right one at an autojumble last week and finding it's not the same - managed to swap the bush over to mine though. The old ones push out with a 22mm 1/2 drive socket or thereabouts and it's easy to press a new one in.

I've got a pile of these sort of bushes, if you have the dimensions I might have one to fit.

Worth a look! They are 30mm OD, 12mm centre hole. Outside sleeve is 28mm length, inner sleeve is 34mm length.

Supplementary question about the large lower mounting bush (the one in the aluminium intermediate bearing housing).
Which way round/up does the bush go in the housing...?

Just found the Quinton Hazell bushes for 2.16 euros each at http://www.micksgarage.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - at that price it's rude not to buy some... :D

The solid parts of the bush needs to be at 90° to the direction the engine wants to rotate, if that makes sense. If you put the solid parts in the direction of movement, you get a lot of vibration transferred to the cabin...don't ask me how I know!

Ah right - that makes sense! I pressed in two yesterday (one for spare) and I've got one right and one at 90 degrees, so I'll have to do that one again!
