Doseur Valve on a TD

Post by Tim Leech »

I am contemplating purchasing a TD Estate to use as my Ecosse Challenge car which I will be viewing on Monday all being well, its a rare one and is scrap value.

I understand the brake doseur valve needs replacing, but being a TD is this a real pig?, I am more proficiant than I used to be but wondering whats involved. I understand pleides do reconditioned ones?

Cheers guys.

It's enough of a pig in-situ on a 16v that you have to undo the engine mount and bring the engine forwards. Should be easier on a diesel.

I bought a Pleides one a while back. Then I found a freshly reconned one in my garage

Ok well if you want to sell the recon one then let me know. Im aiming on 6 months to get the car ready, which is what I did on the 19TZD that I sold to George (that hes now selling for a 2CV  )

This all depends on inspection, if its rotten then I shant be bothering.

I think on a TD it'd be even more of a pig than a valver, though I haven't done one yet... I seem to remember on some very old forum post here someone tied a spanner around their wrist to make it more doable!

I doubt it'd be very possible without moving the engine forward a little...

Can't see how it would be, once you've removed the intercooler etc. On a valver, you'd have to remove the head!
