gotta leak

Post by Mickey taker »

theres a hose that go's from the inlet manifold and joins into the bottom radiator hose ,
somewhere near where they join I appear to have sprung a leak,
I think its most likely the stub of the branch from the bottom hose thats split so :
1) do's anyone know where the bottom hose go's to from the radiator as it seems to disappear into the inner wing or chassis rail
and 2) do's anyone have or know where I might get a new bottom hose and is it a bugger to swap
any help with this greatly appreciated

I have had a look at GSF and Euro carparts websites but nothing is showing up.

If anyone can get me one of these hoses for Sunday and bring it to CXM I will happily reimburse them for it

if you jack the car up and remove the O/S/F wheel then remove the front section of the wheel arch liner,
you will see the bottom hose running along the bottomof the O/S/F chassis rail,

then on to just behind the water pump,

usually they get impregnated with oil then split along the edge of the jubilee clip,

if it has not been cut back before there is usualy enough hose to trip the bad bit off and re/connect the hose

The hose on my N/A Diesel, I think, is very similar to the 16, and it's been split and joined with a small section of metal pipe at some point in it's life along the section that goes past the crank pulley... Seems pretty water tight and cheaper than a NOS hose probably..

Mick,

its not too difficult to fix, a bit of brute force may be needed but certainly doable by yourself.
did mine on the TXD about 5 years ago whilst mum was in hospital and i got mine on feebay.
i wonder if your local motor factors could get one for you?
I have a lot of rubber hoses here, ile check them out later for you.

hmmm, just to be on the safe sside I have been checking to see if I can get a bottom hose, none of the local motor factors stock them and Citroen say its NLA.
I wonder if it would work if I can get a straight bottom hose and plug the pipe to the inlet manifold

What are the internal dimensions of the pipe (roughly)? I've found that domestic plumbing fittings can be useful for making up a complex pipe from standard hoses. It may be that you can cut away the T piece and use one of these fittings.

Thanks to Andy I have a replacement pipe on its way,

I will save the old one and do the plumbers conversion that Mat suggested as it will make a good back up.

The split is around the moulded base of the spur so cutting the spur out and using plumbers fittings is a great idea

Been sorting hoses myself this week. I managed to get a look at the current availability from Citroen at Warners this week, and it's almost all NFP!
