TD gearbox clutch fork removal

Post by KevR »

...how?
Need to change the plastic bushes but can't get the fork out without removing the operating arm. The operating arm is attached (apparently) by threaded pin, but there's no spanner flats or whatever on the pin to turn it. Am I missing something? (apart from my marbles, which rolled out of reach many years ago...).

The threaded pin needs to be removed, but this is not easy. As it orientation is such that you cannot drive it out with a pin punch.

Firstly the thread on the end of that pin is M7x1 (none to easy to find a nut to fit that).

Once you have found some M7 nuts, cut a couple of spacers (a used XUD valve guide is ideal)

Assemble with said spacer and nut, and wind the nut down the thread, by using increasingly longer length spacers you will eventually be able to pull the pin out of its hole, and hence remove the arm from the shaft.

That's great advice - thanks Kevin.

M7 nuts are no problem – 2CVs and H vans are full of them!
