Hydraulic pump belt
The belt that operates the hydraulic pump on my 16TGS is constantly screaming. Does it just need tightening or is there summat up!! The last belt did the same before snapping. Should I look at the pump?

I need to change mine as it's missing a few teeth and squeels when the engine is revved, check all your teeth are present? =P

Inspect the belt if its showing any signs of cracking or missing teeth then change it, but as malcolm says it needs to be very tight, I have a 1.9i Petrol which squealed all the time until it was REALLY tight!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

See my posting in BX Tech... after a cam belt change with new HP pump and Alternator belts the mechanic didnt realise the tension reqd on the HP pump belt. Tighten and if it stops screaming the pump should be OK... the real test is on starting up when the accumulator sphere is in need of pressurising to full pressure.
