Front end won't rise

Post by Dollywobbler »

Having heroically taken me to Sussex and back, the new BX is now being a pain. The front end won't rise, adding to the suspension woes!

It will rise if I pull the lever into high, but not from low to normal or intermediate. The lever is still and reluctant to go into Low, but is fine in other positions. LHM level is ok, back end rises with no problem so I'm guessing this is a front height corrector fault. Not sure how to fix it though!

I'd also appreciate advice on how to tighten the pump belt. Getting at the adjuster seems easy enough but I'm struggling to see how I can put pressure on the pump to get a good tension. There's so much stuff in the way! (well, ok, just the intercooler really).

If the intercooler is in the way, just take it off, its very easy to do. I normally use a long screwdriver or bar & wedge it against the pump to lever the pump against the belt tighter, hope my explanation made sense?

Ian,
i have had similar problems recently with the height corrector rods at the rear of the vehicle. You may need to get the rear up in the air and check out the mechanism which should move very very freely.Free this off, Malcolm reccomends a bit of heat, and all your woes should be put right. This will also effect the front of the vehicle. The levers inside the motor will then become very easy to move. All will work well after that.

Sounds like a sticking front height corrector to me? My first bx did the same.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Ian if you were in Sussex you should have looked me up

lub and work the linkage at the front height corrector, in levering the linkage mind you dont lever against the H/C dist cover,
as this will split the dust cover and diaphragm, which in turn will cause citro blood to leak out

Thanks Malcolm. Sadly I didn't have time to drop by but I would have liked to! Had a lot of catching up with folk to do and only a few days in which to do it.
