So, pulling the dash out to change the bulbs on the TXD has resulted in a non-working speedo. It's definitely connected at the head end and a quick twist of the cable makes the needle move. However, that suggests it isn't connected at the other end...
Out of curiousity, I pulled the entire cable through its sheath and out it came. I shoved it back but is it likely that this is no longer connected at the gearbox end? Or is it a two-part cable? Guess it'll be sat nav speedo for a while...

Re: Speedo cable
The cable is in two parts. Where it comes out of the bulkhead behind the gearbox the join is just a few centimeters after it comes out of the rubber bung.

Re: Speedo cable
Sorted. Thanks. Shoved the cable down firmly from the speedo end and it now seems to have engaged. Phew!
