Wheel fitment?

Post by THE_Liam »

I'll hopefully be getting a BX soon, the one I'm looking at just has steelies so I'm thinking of fitting some alloys. I've had loads of Peugeots and I've got quite a few parts lying around including a few sets of wheels, but in particular I reckon the 205 GTI 1.9 Speedlines I've got would look ace, anyone know if they'd fit? I'm a bit concerned about the rear arches rubbing them...

They usually run 185/55/15 tyres, think they'd fit? How big can the BX go?

I've seen a BX on those wheels before - ironically it was a similar colour to the one (I assume) you're interested in. They were painted purple though!

The 16v BX runs 195/60R14 tyres and I've got the same on my estate. The wheelarches needed teasing out by a few mm but you should be fine with yours.

Hmm, thought I might have to use my precision fitment tool* to make them fit, looks like that might be the case ;)

No, you should be fine without that! Even with 195 section tyres it was just a slight buzzing, and all it took was a claw hammer and block of wood to lever it out a tiny bit. With 10mm narrower tyres they should fit straight on assuming offset is the same.

ive had 205/40 r17 on the valver with no problems (other than a naff ride). i think low spec cars have slightly narrower rear wings which reduce the tyre width you can fit, but 195 shouldnt be a problem
