Solex 32-34 Z1 carb spares needed

Post by Preacher »

Hi all, I am trying to source a replacement wax stat for a Solex carb fitted to my 16 TXS believing it to have the B2C engine so hopefully having the original carb..

Know that a manual conversion kit is available for £60 + vat etc but would prefer to keep it as auto choke.

are you sure the stat has died

quite often the wax stat does not function because either there is not enough coolant in the system, or the coolant spouts have closed up with corrosion/fur,

do both hose's at the wax stat get hot with the engine running,

if not check the above

I'm with Malcolm - check the pipework first. Had exactly this problem on my 16 when I first got it - small pipes to manifold/carb had all furred up so no warm water was getting through.

Thanks guys I will be checking the pipework out just as soon as I can as its due an mot & could definately do with it running leaner & cheaper. If it's not the pipework then I will check out Southern carburettors, thanks BX Crazed for their name
