Talking to yourself Mickey - first sign of madness you know.

I get really worried when I don't know what I'm going to say next.

This is good to know as it proves I'm not mad - I never talk to myself because the invisible parrot that lives on my shoulder is always willing to listen to me!

bit late like but,

My 16 TRS does 44mpg (only use it for long runs) and it seems to tally with other owners. Carb issues before did majorly affect mpg.

Funnily enough i bought a new solex for mine- wondering if that was a bad decision!?

Good luck wiht the new carb!

Solex carbs are fine in good condition in my experience, the issue is that when they do go wrong they can be expensive to fix.

Was it an auto they were discussing? I spoke to someone at the icccr who'd had an auto and was shocked at my fuel economy as he'd got low 20s to mid 30s for his.....just curious.

That may depend on where he's driving it. The 4 speed auto fitted to the BX was advanced for it's time, with a torque converter lock in top an a partial lock in 3rd, but in lower gears it was still the typical power sapping auto.
