Car Windscreen Heater - Any Good?

Have you got a water leak in the car? I can't think of a time when I've had ice on the inside with dry carpets.

He has a sunroof? Also another note is your clothing and shoes on wet days tend to leave the car damp and footwell carpets damp.

I suspect that the 20 year old door seals are no longer exactly a tight fit due to age, so i'm sure moisture must creap in, & that's why the inside is damp & then freezes, aaaaargh. This week hasn't been too bad, no ice on the inside & with the engine running, it has cleared the inside after i'd finished scraping the ice off from the outside. I'd still prefer not to have to waste fuel though.

Here's something to consider, DON'T heat the windscreen on a cold day too quickly...or it will crack!
I've watched some stupid twat pour hot water over a frosted windscreen, and that didn't end well.
Lukewarm water is better on a frozen screen.
Now, as for those silly heaters I use one, because the heater in my ZX 16v is utter crap.
It's good for de-fogging the inside of screen on these damp days.

Mat has sent me his old one, so i just need to solder on the plug & i then i'll give it a try. Will let everyone know how i get on, i've never soldered anything either so i went & bought a soldering kit from Maplins today, reduced from £25 to £10, bargain

Not necessarily. It depends upon changes in the dew point prior to the temperature plunging. Condensation can form over the inside of the screen which then freezes. Cold damp air can enter from the demist channels of a car sitting on the drive.

I guess if you leave the car for a while then maybe, I use my car every day and it never gets like that, just a bit misty, but never enough to ice.

If there's enough moisture to form condensation then it only depends on temperature for it to freeze!
