Simple one tonight. The sunroof switch is a bit rubbish. Repeatedly stabbing it may eventually cause the sunroof to lift and it makes one rather reluctant to slide the sunroof back in case it won't shut again...
So, how do I get the switch out and is there anything I can do to fix it? I've got plenty of time to sort it out before we get anything approaching pleasant weather again I suspect...

Re: Sunroof switch
Yaaaay, a question I can answer, even if only by copying the instructions that Mickeytaker sent me
First unclip the sun visors from the switch panel and move them out of the way. Then there's just four screws to undo one either side of the cover that inclips so you can manually open the roof and one each side where the sunvisor unclips once they are undone the switch pan will drop rough for you to be able to unplug the wiring to the switch then simply squeeze the plastic gangs either side of the switch. Take the switch out and swap it.plug the wiring back in ,put the panel back in and do up the four screws.
It took me about 15 minutes to swap over my switches, I was dead chuffed when it worked, first bit of maintenance I ever did.
Haven't seen much sunshine since then though!

Re: Sunroof switch
it might be worth dismantling the switch and cleaning the contacts, this can also work with electric window switch's,
you might even find damp has entered the switch

Re: Sunroof switch
Thanks both! I'll opt to try and fix the switch I have so far, though I may have a spare in my box of random BX bits.

Re: Sunroof switch
Got the switch out but couldn't see how to get it apart. Squirted WD40 in as best I could and worked the switch back and forth and it now seems a lot better. Whether it'll last is anyone's guess...
Re: Sunroof switch
do not use that orible W stuff its not a switch cleaner or a lubric*u*n*t/ant, its a moisture dispace'nt
i cant remember what the roof switch looks like, but i think the rocker part pivots on the plastic pins one on each side of the switch body,
if this is the case you gently prize the tabs of the rocker over and off of the plastic pins, then all the innards are revealed/fall apart

Re: Sunroof switch
If you don't have a spare roof switch, a front window switch will do just fine.
