BX19TRS Starting Problem

Dread Solex Carb but it may not be the carb I think!

This car has always been a pig to start since I got it and something I noted today while trying to start the car unsuccessfully was the Fuel filter was still dry after several attempts of many attempts of priming the carb. So I took upon myself to try the eggcupfull of fuel direct intoi the carb and hey presto started first turn of the key.

This got me thinking where is th problem? Is it the carb or is it the fuel pump? Bear in mind these are mecchanical pumps from what I can see so is it possible its not pulling the fuel through? or just another red herring from the solex?

Could be a pump issue, could be fuel line failure, could be a blocked pickup in the tank.

Work my way back!

Clarify one point it is easier to start the car after it has been started up to several hours later before becoming a problem. I thought along the tunnel lines of automatic hoke problem but after seeing the dry petrol filter and what I did looking at these other options.

Since I have a spare pump or two wont be to hard to swap it! See where that gets me and a bit shuffling under the car to the fuel lines is next.

if it were a split fuel line it would only suck air and not fuel at all,

I took the descsion to put in the 16RS carb I had floating around and had taken parts off of over the years.

One thing perplexed me as I was looking for the differances between the two and that was a missing linkage! Not so much missing but brooken! All the years we had this car never noticed it so 16RS carb back to gether and plugged in!

Amazingly the car started first time! Slight adjustments needed to the idle and probaly the auto choke but it actually works! So the 19TRS is back in business. Next job replace those rear arms and get a ticket for it.
