Removal of Air Con system

Post by kiwi »

Bit of advice would be welcome from anyone who has information on how to do this safely and correctly to be re used.

I am dismantling a TZS with Aircon fitted that is in working order. What I dont want to do is wreak the thing in the process or worse poison myself.

You wont poison yourself. R12/R134a is pretty much inert and heavy, you have to have the car in a tray, and lay down in said tray before the gas can kill you. It's pretty hard to achieve. The gas is however pretty damaging to the environment, and you really should have it professionally reclaimed and disposed off. Once that is done just dismantle it like any mechanical thing, but remember the connections are mostly to corroded aluminium, so go gently.

Proffesional reclaiming might as well send it to the scrapper with the cost of getting somone out to purge it.

Probably get the hazmat suit out and let the fire brigade do some training on it. lol

Really? The likes of Kwik Fit and National will do it for cash around here, so long as its obviously a clean/working system and they don't need to bother analyzing the gas before the reclaim.
