So what's the effect of ULS fuel on engines like ours?

Cars running on high sulphur fuels smell like an eggy fart !

Perhaps I should try that - my engine is getting quite rattley until it's very nice and warm. When it is warm though, it does tick over very quietly and at low revs - 500rpm indicated.

Every comment was positive Brian with some claiming less smoke, I remain a little sceptical myself although I may well give it a try although I haven't noticed any issues with my TZD which has been running every day on ULS diesel since the day I bought it.

Not sure about less amoke using 2 stroke, but a good quality oil shouldn't add to the smoke. As for the modern fuel affecting engines, it depands on what those engines were designed to run on.

Good point Mike - maybe BP Ultimate isn't the right way after all - maybe the chippy up the road is my next fuel stop !

I've popped some old engine oil into the fuel tank after i gave the txd a service, didn't notice whether it ran any better or not, it did smoke rather well though
