Mk 1 diesel radiators

Post by Mothman »

Just a thought for those of you with MK 1 diesels.
Had to replace Sophie's rad last year, a 1.9 diesel and it was difficult to source and expensive.
Recently did the job on the TGS rad, a MK 2 estate and on comparing the two it seems like its the same as a Mk 1. It was less than half the price of Sophie's rad and if this is the case its a good thing to know that if a diesel MK 1 owner has a rad problem the replacement is easily available at a much more reasonable cost.
Any thoughts or am i just p****g up the wrong tree?

It's common for parts to be shared, or at least similar enough to be compatible. It would be interesting to know whether they share the same part number, but even if not I bet they're close enough to be fitted.

They look the same Mat and thats the way i will be going in future.
2 1.6 rads are cheaper than 1 Mk 1.

The rad Tim fitted to his estate (19 petrol) was the same as the one on Timex.
