Did you replace the pipes? Who made them for you?
Did you replace the Dryer? Does it need to be a r134a specific type?
Did you replace the expansion valve (aka tx valve is it?)

Thanks Jaba, I didn't realise you we're in the a/c clan!

Yea, been fiddling with it since 1998. I have some spares too if you get stuck. I lot of people that don't have it can't see why we bother in our climate. But for me its the extra comfort.

No the pipes are original. You can't just change the pipes you need new unions as well. Any aircon man can make up pipes for you. New pipes will hold the gas longer.
All dryers supplied these days are not for R12 systems, so yes new R134a one fitted.

Yes to Tx valve too. Not because it is essential but mine had a bit of a leak and was quite badly corroded inside.

I got a kit of orings (13 on the BX) and some oil from Autokool in Chesterfield.Drained out the mineral oil and put the required amount in the compressor.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.
