It is a design that offer ease of service and it is a big bearing. So no water getting in and lubrication it should last a long time. Its more of a Citroen solution than the bloody useless rear suspension arm pivot bearing design which has not got enough surface area. Compare that to the 2CV's huge bearing. Pug effect coming in probably, like the front strut compromise. However at least it all comes apart relatively easily, not as scary as it looks, if caught in time.

Having stripped out Homers rear wheel bearings to repack with proper HT bearing greases I have found an original SKF in France installation.
The bearing is SKF 446451DD. Probably will not tie into a Citroen number.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the socket size for the rear hub nut?

I have a 36mm socket but this is marginally too small. I'm trying to work out if this is 37mm or 38mm.

Thanks

45mm as I recall right. If it is allready changed once before, it can be of the anysize..
Edit: no I didn't. 41mm socket. I had to check from the garage..
