dv4/8hx engine into a bx

Post by rutter123 »

just a thought as my sisters 206 is being scrapped due to mot failure but has a sweet 75k engine and box 1.4 hdi dv4/8hx, would make a very economical bx, i believe the 206 is actually heavier than a bx, quite a punchy little engine and about the same power as a 19n/a without the noise. or is it more hassle than its worth? this is just a thought for now. i will prob pull the engine/box running gear etc out before it goes for scrap anyway.

Dunno if it's ever been done on a BX but these engines have been dropped into old pugs in the past. I suppose it depends on how handy you are, but I'd bank on fabricating engine mounts, exhaust downpipe and possibly gear linkage as a minimum. 2 things I'd check before even researching that far are the dimensions of the engine and box compared to the original units and what your insurance company is going to say.

You may end up having to source another gearbox anyway, as I believe the 206 runs on 13" wheels, although I may be wrong on that count.

Best thing to do with that engine is bury it in a field somewhere and then erect a dog shit bin next to it.

Hell no, nothing but trouble. DW10 is lightyears better.
