on the GSF ebay listing linked above it reads

"Return Pipe for Citroen BX 82-94
Minimum 12 Month Warranty: GSF Carparts"

if you buy the jelly ones from GFS's ebay listing they work out £15.25 instead of dealers price of £13.94,

no brainier really

Really! They've gone up an awful lot since 2009 then.

The GSF ones were always cheaper, the last ones I bought off GSF in 2009 were £5.67 + vat which of course included our BXC club discount of 10%.

However whatever price GSF sell them for is a false economy if they struggle to not become porous and crack within a year!

I never think about buying off GSF on-line. The purpose of GSF is that they have shops so "when you need it now, you can get it now" or at the latest they will get it for the next day if they are out of stock (in theory anyway). You can also get your 10% discount in the shop - can you get that online? :?

I am also pleased to be able to report that I too have just bought a packet of 5 from the Citroen dealer today, and paid 55.80 GBP. On a unit price considerably cheaper than the GSF ebay version.

Apparently these will be available for some time, as this item is also used on early Citroen Xantia's (later Xantias used a single return pipe)

The poor quality GSF ones are CRAMSA brand, according to the packet I managed to find from the last one fitted. Made in Spain item described as BVC-020 Depresseur Suspension Hydraulique....
I note that the newer Octopus and Squid I bought were Polish made and in OE Citroen bags even if not from main dealers.

Does any one know if the silicone tube in Brian's fix long term lhm proof? I think it could just be the correct piping for a replacement Octopus.....

I did try and check the compatibility of Silicone with LHM and the only sources I could find indicated it was not the best material. Usually silicone is pretty good for chemical resistance so I was pretty surprised. However silicone is fine for your cooling hoses and anti freeze as far as I could ascertain.
At the moment I have been led to believe that Nitrile rubber may be the best for LHM but am no expert in this area. Perhaps a hydraulics engineer on this forum might inform us?.

Usually you can find enough data to give the best long term option even if its not the cheapest. In this case Citroen and or Citroen and LHM experts/material scientists are keeping a fairly low profile...

Plaedes supply complete refurbed struts , so they may have the pipes ? Although they prob use the Citroen parts if they're still available.

If you read the thread you would see that Genuine Citroen pipes are still readily available and not expensive.

Indeed, picked up 3 from Cit today @ £14 each.

They say they're still in manufacture for the forseeable.
I have zero patience for your tedium.

I have some struts return pipes to replace and thought I'd have a go at the following mod, from the French car forum some years ago.

http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... php?t=8627

However I'm not sure whether to go for the silicone tube or the rubber one, which is supposed to be nitrile and therefore better with LHM fluid? . Also not sure whether to go for 3 mm of 4 mm, internal diameter. The rubber one is only available in 3mm, but I imagine it stretches quite easily after being in a cup of hot water. I have a variety of small stainless steel tubes by virtue of having a brainwave while looking at an old car aerial.
