Mine is an original rad and alloy/plastic construction.

Wasn't the 8v gti one the same as the diesel normally asprirated one?
Can't say for sure about the above, but the 19 petrol estate Tim rescued earlier this year had the same radiator in as Timex's.

1.9 carb and 1.9D are the same, 1.6 is smaller, TD and 16v have header tanks, not sure about the 8v althought I should as ive got one.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Yes, I have. Those are the guys in Glasgow? Usually very keen to help, but not on this occasion. This has all turned ugly over the last couple of days - massive coolant loss, and we all know what happens when you cook an XUD, so I've just found a cheapy on ebay (buycarspares2) for a bit over a hundred quid, and jumped at it. The vendor even emailed me to confirm auto/manual/aircon or not - really good service - lets see what his radiators are like.

I think its these guys who also publish a list of what else it'll fit, which is quite interesting = 405's etc

Alan Goodyear has a few turbo diesel cars he's breaking.
