Fitting a RevCounter

Post by Tim Leech »

I have a spare set of clocks from a BX 1.9D with a revcounter, the 19RD has a clock....what kind of a faff is it to fit, I expect the gearbox wont have a flywheel sensor already in?

Cheers!

Simple electrical job Tim. Well within your capabilities just need to get hold of the sensor which fits in the engine at the back above the speedo cable adapter.

A temperature gauge is even more useful though.

Its quite easy actually. All you need is power from the ignition & a neutral (sorry I can't remember what positions, It might be 1 for live & 2 for neutral) then 2 wires to the engine bay, somewhere around the speedo cable area will do. connect one end of both to the rev counter clock (Again can't remember what positions, it could be 3 & 4) then the other ends goes to the sensor, one on the red wire & one on the green wire, one goes in the end of the sensor plug, & the other in the middle. (it does help if the wires are exposed, but there not always).

Hope that helps.
