Anyone with the Citroen Workshop manuals

Post by frog »

Could some one scan in Op. 1, XB 16, 122-4a (Fitting and tensioning the cambelt).

I would love to have a closer look at how they do it.

Also if you felt like scanning in any other info abotu the DFW (Cat engines) Particularly the engine loom wiring side of things that would be great! Mine is down on power, something to do with the idle control valve I think.

If anyone has an automatic feeding double sided scanner.. the whole thing would be great [/dreaming]

Yeah, strengthening the topic, i tried to find a copy of that manual and it's almost impossible (at least for me) to find. Only could find some pages for the autobox cable and gear selector lever adjustment, the steering box and motronic 4.1 (in Citroën BX 16V site). So i'm asking, begging for a copy of that manual if someone have it. I think they're more detailed than Haynes and when i search for it, it only appears Haynes, Haynes, Haynes...Haynes everywhere...

The BX Project site has useful archived files:

http://www.bxproject.co.uk/phpbb3/viewforum.php?f=13&sid=56772e8f06e23d0575af99a2c47ea90f

There was also a site a few years ago with workshop manual PDF's it's gone now but some of them are still available on the wayback machine...

Maybe worth making that link a sticky as it's not the easiest to dig up now

Thanks! I do have that info thanks to previous internet sleuthing. Some seems to be unavailable now though. Still after the above mentioned info, no great rush, I have tightened the cam belt up and played with the tensioners and it seems to be running well.

Still having idle issues, would love info regarding the Motronic 1.3 ECU.

Cheers,
Chris

The idle control valve should have no bearing whatsoever on engine power.

If you've got lumpy idle, then you've got a 16v ;)

I have a copy of that website that I stripped back in 2007. I always meant to put it up on my own website but never got round to it yet. I would probably have to get Bob Smith's ok as well.
Anyway I had a look and there is certainly not a complete workshop manual there just a few selected pages and some jobs and mods that Bob carried out.
So there are no cambelt change and adjustments at all I am afraid.

Hi Rob, Power issues seem to have been sorted, I readjusted the cam belt, changing the tensioner positions, maybe I had the timing a few degrees out because of tensioner positions, I don't really know.

I am still having funny idle issues.
On hot days (30deg c +) the car sporadically seems to start idling at 3k+ RPM.
This is usually transient, though it can last an entire drive.
It is especially noticeable when driving a relatively short distance, getting the car up to temp, turning it off for a few minutes and then starting it again (going to the shops for milk etc). Heat soaking into things causing problems?

For some reason when you disconnect the idle control valve the car returns to a normal idle, reconnect it and the idle creeps back up again. So obviously air is leaking through here. I've swapped it for a known good one. As well as swapping/testing lots of other things.

I'd just like to have a really good look at the manuals. I've been through the motronic 4.1 manual and tested everything. Just wondering if there is anything on the 1.3 that could also effect it.

I'm trying to get it sorted before winter comes along and the problem disappears.
This problem has been present since I got the car, (I've changed to a different known good engine since then) Maybe a problem with the engine wiring loom?

Thanks for sharing! Yea, as Jaba said, is not a complete manual, but is a good material indeed.

That was a good website and it would be an excellent move for the BXC admins to gain Bob Smiths permission to host it on the BXC server if Bob Smith is no longer interested in supporting it.

It would also be good to see our website back which while not as excellent did contain some useful (& missed) reference material. :)

Sensor-wise I'm pretty sure the only differences between ml4.1 and m1.3 are the knock sensor and (on cat equipped cars) the lambda sensor.

I also occasionally get that problem of the crazy high idle above 3,000 rpm upon starting, but it only ever happens to me on cold winter days- which is doubly annoying because I don't want to be revving a freezing cold engine! As soon as I put it in gear though, it sorts itself for some reason.

Since its temperature-related, I've put it down to an intermittently faulty air temp sensor, though I have not tested it yet.

I thought erratic idle was the fault of the TPS?

frog,

I've scanned the file and uploaded it to the project.

You need to be logged in to down load the files.

As Mr Fenwick quickly caught on to, I've put a few other 16v relevant ones up too;

http://www.bxproject.co.uk/phpbb3/viewt ... 075#p65075" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I really need to finish uploading the ones that are already PDF'd
