Hoses?

Post by demag »

Is it still possible to get hoses? The top rad hose on the TGS feels very firm and un-flexible.

Some of the more common ones are still available from Citroen but many no longer are and you'll need to find silicone equivalents or trail eBay..

The Citroen Service site is very helpful when it comes to citroen specific parts like hoses... Get a free account, find the part nos and how little is available now!

Hard crud on the inside of hoses usually means that tapwater has been used at some time in the car's life. Best not to squeeze the hoses too much so the crud stays where it is - relatively out of harms way and not floating around the coolant system with the potential to bung things up - particularly the heater matrix and the heater tap.

Probably worth giving the system a good flush through with the appropriate chemicals and make sure you operate the hot / cold knob on a regular basis to try to keep the heater tap free. If you're fitting new hoses then do the flush after fitting rather than before - less crud for the chemicals to attack. Keep flushing until the fresh fill runs out clear - can take a whole day to reach that point.
