Does alternator from 1.6 engine fits in 1.9 Diesel.

Maybe, depends of the amperage of the alternator, i think a diesel needs 80 amp and the pulley might be different.

You need to check the amperage. Valeo alternators and exchange ones are still available for the 1.6 ASFAIK. The normal BX use a 4 V belt but the aircon models have a 6 V belt so wider pulleys and obviously a different width belt. Again ASFAIK these are still available. I changed a normal 4 V belt one last year.

Turbos, or at least my TZD had a 5V belt. Now works just fine with a 4V belt, bunging out 14.1 volt.

My 1.9 diesel started out with a 5V belt and a 50 amp alternator. I think you only get 80 amp alternators where aircon is fitted and they come with a 6V pulley.

ISTR trying the old alternator from my 1987 1.6TRS in a TZD and it didn't fit, but I can't remember why! Probably wrong pulleys. Might still have it in the shed somewhere, will try and take a look later.
