My Cars: citroen bx 19rd (now sold)
citroen bx 17tgd turbo repairs ongoing. (gone to the scrapyard in the sky)
citroen cx familiale awaiting possible restoration. (rotted away)
citroen bx 14 re. this ones a beauty.

gear change linkages

can any one tell me are the gear change linkages the same on my 1.7 tgd as my 1.9 trd. both cars are at my dads so i cant check at the mo.

It's hard to say really, as far as I know, there are at least 3 different types of gear linkages. They are different for the be1 & be3 gearboxes, then I have seen 2 different types for the be3.

thanks, i will have to wait till i get there to compare them.
do you know if the nylon inserts that go in the ball joints at either end of the linkage rods are still available ?

I don't know if it is still the case but the linkages were still available from dealers a couple of years ago. I would doubt that the individual nylon bushes would be available separately, though you might be able to turn one on a small lathe.... :wink:

I've had one pop off a couple of times, but at least had the presence of mind to look on top of the gearbox as I had no gear selection and see the dangling rod. Pushing teh little devil back on got me back OK, and then I got one from Citroen. That was on a BE3 box on a 1.6 petrol. Pretty common wear and tear item, Pug models may well use the same linkage. Check the linkage length as I think they are sized by their median/factory set center to centre dimension. My replacement was within less than 1mm and worked fine, without alteration.
