Aircon?????????????

Post by Adam »

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1

It has been mentioned on other posts that this car may have aircon? I'm going to have a look tomorrow and it's mine if I want it. How can you tell as I don't see any obvious signs from the pics???

Many thanks.

Me thinks it doesn't then, I had assumed the slider was above the heater controls as can't see where there would be room above the ashtray, pointless coin holder thingy!!!!

Look on the underbonnet picture.

You can see a pipe coming up on the far right of the picture out from the radiator vacinity. This is an air con pipe.

Indeed, very obvious now you've pointed this out, all my others have not had this, however it brings me back to the controls, not obvious from pictures. Guess i'll find out tomorrow, can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I can see the left hand slider switch. Also seems to have ABS and possibly 2 electric mirrors - I see the usual 4 way switch in the auxilliary panel but is that a selector next to it?

Also seems to be the only one without a leaky camshaft oil seal! Should have 2 fan motors rather than the 1 of the Mk 2 cars without AC.

Only has 1 electric mirror as per normal TZD - the drivers' door mirror has the manual control on it. Can't make out the A/C slider controls behind the steering wheel which blocks the view of them, but Ian is right - the pipe on the right hand side of the rad is the A/C pipe to the condenser.
Looks like a very tidy car for the price - could be as simple as no LHM or a loose HP belt, or the bleed screw needs cracking and retightening...
cheers,

You lucky devil! I want it myself now!!!
I have a complete air-con kit for a bx I bought some time ago but haven't got round to fitting yet. The controls for it are mounted on the handbrake shroud? Never seen another bx like this but I'm told it's the earlier spec (def a 16v unit, smaller condensor to fit infront the rad).
Buy it! You know it makes sense!
Cheers

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
