Usually from someone spraying in cold weather or poor preperation of the surface underneath. Sometimes if an aerosol such as maintenance spray or choke and carburettor cleaner has been used nearby this can cause the `orange peel` effect.
Usually the best way to overcome it is to rub down and start again, making sure the area is completely degreased (panel wipe/acetone are good for this but be very careful in handling these substances and always wear goggles/keep away from sources of ignition and heat) and ensure atmosphere is warm and also give the can a really good shaking first. Oh, and placing the spray can in a bucket of warm water for a few minutes will also help.

Orange peel is a defect that occurs when the Paint that emerges from the spray gun is not properly atomized.
The cure is rub the area down when dry then respray but try on a test area or an old door or wing and use one of the two guides below to adjust the spray gun.

Without changing the air atomizing pressure, DECREASE the flow of paint to the gun by turning the fluid control knob to the right, clockwise.

Without changing the fluid flow to the gun, INCREASE the air pressure to the gun.

Hope this helps.

I have done a fair bit but it is not my favorite job especially not 2K that stuff is just so toxic it`s not nice, I meant to say that the only thing if you increase the paint flow is make sure it is not to heavy or it will sag and look like curtains it is best to have an old door or any flat panel to test on as you can then check the gun settings and more importantly the paint colour as what it says on the tin and indeed looks like in the tin can be completely different especially when sprayed also the primer colour has an effect on the colour too so you need to check what colour the primer is.

it is possible to remove orange peel by wet sanding it back with fine paper and then using a machine polisher an d some good compound polishing it out!
there is a guy on one of the forums i use that wetsanded the whole of his black is200 due to terrible factory orange peel! amazing job he has done!!
infacto after a wee search here it is!

I hate spraying almost as much as welding. It's very boring ](*,)
Perhaps I'll have to buy my mate who is a car sprayer by trade a few beers andpoint him at the car!

I'll take the gun just in case! :D You must understand this man drinks lager and doesn't understand the subtle flavours of real ale  , therefore he is clrealy extremely dim  , but he is good at spraying..... Cant have it all I guess. I'll buy him some fosters and insist he doesn't drink it till the paints applied to the car!! :D :D
