brighten up my life!

RE : Dashboard instrument panel bulbs

My dashboard instrument panel needs a new set of bulbs, and with the light nights now numbered, i am thinking i better get them put in sooner rather than later.

My question is How many will i need? Anyone know?

Will be a lot easier for me if i know how many before i start surgery on the panel!

i am assuming that it is the bulbs that have blown, but could there be a fuse that might have gone instead?

Do you mean the warning lights, the instrument lighting, or both?

Seems strange for them all to have gone at once?

See fuse table here and check fuses no. 2 & 3 ... although if either of these have blown, there should be other tell-tale non-working items...

Good luck!

i think there are about a dozen bulbs or so behind the pod, worth changing them all whilst you've got it off,
if you want them cheap then look on ebay for fruit machine bulbs 5mm wedge type! you can normally pick up 50 for about £4-5 where as they are £1 each through most factors!!!!
i have used them to great effect on all my dash bulbs and sent some of the spares off to some of the other members on the 16v forum!!

*edit*
here you go!!
Short linky to Ebay
Timmo.

After all I AM CORNISH!!!!

Cant be a fuse then as all other items are working!

Will go along with the fact i need to get some bulbs

Timmo's idea of 50 for 4-99 looks o.k.

They do all go - closely in sequence. The reason is thay were all fitted on the same day, have been turned on and off the same number of times - and so reach the end of their life together!

Just like headlights - that fail on one side then the other shortly afterwards.

Worth doing all - have a good hunt - I think there's a cover that comes off to reveal more of them - also worth doing the mots frequently used warning lights - ie those in the middle, the indicators, the brake warning one and the oil pressure one.

I have switched these, so only used when lights are used.

I know there is a reostat located on the underside of the plastic steering wheel cover, but many folk forget about this and the lamps are on full brightness all the time.

A slot is provided for a switch next to the reostat...

And it may be worth prising out the rheostat and joining together the two connectors to it, just in case the rheostat is duff.

Some extra bulbs hide behind the white oil-level module that bolts onto the rear of the intrument panel. These are the ones that most people forget until they've put the panel back and discover there are still some bulbs that don't work! Someone has a panel for sale on ebay at the moment if you feel like doing a dry run first, and getting some spare bulbs and meters.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.
