The black box on the door card is the one touch control box for the electric windows and the regulator is the mechanical part mounted in the door which moves the glass up and down by a toothed cam and an electric motor.

For some reason the window winding mechanism is referred to as the regulator - even when its got a handle for hand winding on it.

Inside a front door you will find the regulator holding the glass and connected to the motor, the locking motor, screwed to the inner face of the door (under the membrane) with 2 screws and a wire link to the locking mechanism, switches and wires - and a control unit if THAT DOOR has one touch windows.

I am confused.....You do have a regulator in your door Mulley. As said said, the regulator is a fancy name given to the mechanical device to lift the glass up and down (whether hand wound or electric). Do you need a regulator cos I think I have one??

Black box for one touch is additional electric gizmos - very cool, just fitted one to my TD!!
