Tyre sizes and the MOT
Hi just a quick question if i took the ax for an MOt with 145-70-13 tyres on the front and 155-70-13 on the rear would they fail it on the mot.
its just the AX has low tread on the rear and i have two very good 155 wheels i can put on the back just trying to save a few quid if i can.

CX22TRS came as standard from the factory with 175 on the back and 185 on the front, dont ask why, i know not.

As Tim says, Sleepy. However I`d be tempted to get them all the same size because if you have a flat you`re either going to need to different spares or run the risk of driving illegally or effecting the handling.
Stinkwheel, didn`t the CX (or some of them) have those weird directional tyres which had tapered tread?

I think Citroen did the same for the DS. As the front wheels carry most of the weight and do most of the braking and steering (not to mention all the driving) the front tyres are made to work harder. The rear tyres don't need to be as big as the front tyres or so Citroen reasoned. You can see the same logic applied to powerful rear-wheel-drive cars that wear bigger tyres at the back.Stinkwheel wrote:CX22TRS came as standard from the factory with 175 on the back and 185 on the front, dont ask why, i know not.
Of course life is much easier if all the tyres are the same...
