Great tip Tim
I have not found any redex over here, probably is around just not found it. But if Brake Fluid is as good as Redx and probably better than the "Adman as seen on TV" crap.
In days of yore when petrol stations had attendants, they used to offer you "shots" of Redex in the tank. Seem to remember though it was upper cylinder lubricant, don't know if it did anything to keep you clear of "coke".
Still have attendants in NZ
Most I try to avoid saves me getting the wrong fuell or splashed paint work. Irritates the hell out of me when some lazy Kiwi capable of doing it themselves sits in their car blasting their horn at a busy attendant though. Guess its a cultural thing?
When Leaded fuel was phased out in kiwiland we used to put a shot of some stuff called Valvemaster in the fuel. Thats practice has all but died out now after 11 years of Unleaded fuels. Put to much in clogs up the engine , to little burn the valve seats out
Remember a few people who could not be bothered to put the stuff in that said the car was running perfectly fine until one day it would not go
Incidentally back in 1996 after doing my one year OE in NZ when I came back to the UK, I mentioned that cars run on 95 octance as the max in NZ and every Citreon Mechanic I spoke to said I would be a idiot to put Unleaded in my BX. But it probably explains why there are No BX14 in NZ? Then again I dont recall the last time I heard or saw a BX16 advertised?
cacaolat, from memory of urban driving records I made for my BX16 back in the UK 5.8 miles per Litre was about the same I was getting. Takes a very steady and light foot to achieve the kind of Fuel Efficancy the citreon test lab figures reckon.
