Battery - heavy duty or not?

Post by shavedchimp »

What strength battery is needed (in Amp Hours) for a BX 1.7 TZD? I have just purchased a 60Ah heavy duty but I'm wondering if it's necessary?

When I first got my car,It had a petrol battery on it.Ken advised me to get a new battery straight away.Me being me,left it.After the second time it let me down(at 5am  )I swapped it for a heavy duty Varta. No problems since :D :D :D

From memory mine is 65 Ah but that's not the only thing to look out for. For a diesel you need a high CCA (cold cranking amps) rating which is defined as "The discharge loads measured in amps that a fully charged battery at 0 degrees F (-17.8 degrees C) can deliver for 30 seconds while maintaining the voltage above 7.2 volts."

If you have a look at http://www.varta-automotive.com/eng/ind ... ?anzeige=4 then that may also help.
