I'm looking at a really nice 205 Turbo Diesel.
I know the owner and he's told me the rear suspension is sloppy on it.
The practical classics magazine buyers guide says slopiness in the back end can cost 700quid to replace the axle.
Is this true? Does anybody have any 205 experience?

If my memory serves me right the pug 405 has the same axle and problem and the only cure is a new back axle in lincoln the 405 is used as taxi so you cannot get rear axles for love nor money they have all been bought up to keep the fleets running, in extreme cases the wheels are at such an angle the inside top edge rubs on the inner wing.

Plurp. Get rid of the naff and useless 205 beam as there pretty pants! Go find yourself a 309 Gti and get the rear beam off one of them! You then have discs all round for a start, the beam is much stronger and 'should' be quite easy to pick one up for not too much money!
Have a look on the 205GTi drivers forum and you'll find 205 beams pretty easy to get hold of!
