also the plastic that drives the speedo also has gearbox oil on it to i have just had a close look at the gearbox were the cast is broken and there is a groved hole were oil passes to lub the speedo hence oil on the plastic

Any idea what caused it to break ?

Thanks Gaz. I was toying with the idea of buying the low mileage BX19RD that was going for £50 in Fareham which had a knackered clutch, so I would have had to have a go at changing the clutch --- It sounds like a pretty horrendous job.

its not that bad of a job once you have moved the drive shaft out of the way got pipes wires out of the way once the gearbox bolts are out it splits apart ok the thing is i was talking to my mate for a while and the jack sliped witch may have caused the problem as the box droped
