Any XU clutch would fit, but it wouldn't last very long... You'd be ok with a valver clutch, but the spring pressure is less on on a N/A clutch, so it'd slip and burn itself out pretty quick..

Have a look at the Quinton Hazell clutch parts book and you can see where the individual components are used.
You will see that the plate used on the TD is larger than that used on most others - which may in turn mean that the overall diameter of the presser plate assembly is larger as well - which may mean the flywheel holes are in a different place.

Some burk put "un clutch ordinaire" in my 16 valve ... lasted 5 weeks ... mind you I was a hooligan back then ... I wondered why they could fit a clutch chepaer than I could buy the kit ....

Nah, any XU clutch will bolt onto any XU flywheel. It just wont last.jeremy wrote: which may mean the flywheel holes are in a different place.
Get a proper TD clutch, unless you want to do the job again in a few weeks.....

It is safer to use the correct clutch as the damper springs in the clutch plate are stronger in a turbo I have seen the results of a wrong clutch on a turbo and it isnt prety the clutch plate usually explodes with the extra umph chucking its springs and bits everywhere destroying the bell housing and setting fire to the friction material not good.
