how thick is a new clutch plate on 1769cc turbo diesel the one i have taken out is 6mm thick

Cant help much there mate, but also check for wear on the "fingers" of the diaphragm springs where the thrust race contacts them, a groove worn here is commonly the cause of a heavy clutch. (6mm sounds a little on the thin side)

I've just measured the friction plate for a 1.9 petrol and it's 8mm.
That's a brand new Valeo.
Don't know how much if any difference there'd be for a diesel, but I doubt a diesel would be any thinner, so yes it's pretty well down. (25% at least)

thanks for that ive had a look at the plate to see lines all around the plate i would say they are to show the worn level if so this one is f****d regards gareth
