Its not just about racing....we have superior front brakes and anti roll bars.

I believe this is the solution to Oscar's issue.

Ahh, I see :? . Anyway, I was only kidding. I'd love a good 16v one day.

But back on topic, I saw Oscar's car and it's nice. Too good to burn. Anyway I want to go back to that pub so I don't think torching it is an option

Seriously though, surely two fully charged batterys would get it back? I've gone for about 25miles with no alternator......but also no heater, radio, lights, wipers etc etc

The engine cut out when I turned the wipers on after a while

A diesel engine wont cut out at all, they need a system in place to stop them anyway. I relon a fully charged battery would get you home no porblems. Maybe carry a second just in case.

Thats what id do.

Thats true, I had a petrol....but diesels NEED a power supply to stop due to the solenoid don't they? So as long as you don't stall you're ok

Re Ken's comment about spanner sizes, he is probably right.
Re Kitch's comment about superior anti-roll bars, these are in fact the same as fitted to the turbo Diesel estate cars which, being style icons, demonstrate the true winners in life. I have nothing against the 16V but few win anything except repair bills.

Oh I see. How much was it you just spent on your TZD Tom?

I don't WANT to bring it home. It's much easier to do it in a nice quiet car park than on the side of a narrow terraced street.

Philip, thanks for the indirect moral support. Makes me feel more kindly disposed to the TZD to hear someone else's opinion on it. Wait till I get the Scooby-type bonnet scoop....

The good thing about doing it in a pub carpark is that when it starts raining, or it all just gets too hard you can just say "F**k it", slam the bonnet, and go in for a pint  After which it will seem all that much easier and better

Edit: Given my inabilty to type this morning, you'd think I'd already been in the pub  I wish
I NEED a BX TD.

Are they Tom?? I was certain that the rear roll bars on valvers were infact unique to valvers, since either end of the bar is splined rather than just a flat face held to the arm with a clamp and two 13mm bolts...
Or at least thats how they've been on every valver I've ever seen or owned, and I've had a few Breaks too, and they aint had splined rear ARB's..

Have to agree with Kitch here, valvers are for the win!!! :D

Oh, and diesel stop solonoids require a 12v supply to keep the fuel running! So, even with no battery at all, a XUD will run all day if you remove the solonoid, then remove the plunger, refit the solonoid body and jump start.

Although, I'd personally have 20 pints before contemplating fitting an alternator, ya know, a lubricated mind is a happy mind!!
Cheers

Did mine recently, fairly sure it's a 21mm underneath...

I just changed the brush pack on mine, so I didn't need to take it out although I did anyway.

Yes it was a bit annoying to think it could've been an easy 10min job, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else wrong with it...

Also, see my reply in t'other thread :)
