where to buy new battery terminals

Post by cacaolat »

because of the trouble ...see below "Meteor 16 TGS starting issues" I will buy some new battery terminals. Any advice on a good place to buy them, and how long is it going to take to fit them..?

Any motor accessory shop, caravan places too, iif you remove the bolt from your standard clamps and cut a thin slice out of the "slot" using a hacksaw, then place a few washers under the nut on reassembly they can go on working.

You can buy loose terminals which screw on to the existing lead or a complete lead with terminal attached.

You can even pay as much as £9.99 for posh ones

the suggestion ...cutting out a bit of the old lead connector sounds good...not that I want to spend any money, but I like recycling and keeping things in their original state....I will try that cheers :P

Halfords do them. They're always hanging by the battery and oil stand. Only a couple of quid each.

Thank you for the advice. I have cleaned the old terminals woth wire wool and cut out the bit with the hacksaw... The electric starting issue seems resolved. Unfortunately the other starting issue seems to have kicked in now ? (I stalled the car last night after the first 5metres and it would not start again.... I will try again in about 20 minutes.

Sounds like the old auto choke flooding issue .... mine still does it from time to time... If you do stall it , when you start it back up , hold your foot to the floor whilst turning the engine over. Don't pump the throttle at all.... you need to dilute that neat mixture! Doing this mine always manages to chough and splutter unto running again ...

Anyone got a solex manual choke kit? *or even a place to buy one?

The website is defunct but it might be worth giving the number a ring.
