right, all done. Got a new switch from a citroen spares place in Glasgow, arrived today, fitted it tonight.

Managed to get the car started using the spare key after about 20mins of fiddling etc, so the removal of the barrel was ok in the end.

Fiddly more than anything and with a bit of investigation to see where the multi plug was it was quite straightforward. Hardest bit was attaching the under column trim. Still I now have a car tat starts although I did have a bit of a scare when I thought I'd lost the dash lights, turns out I'd forgot to plug the plug into the dimmer switch :?:

Now the car starts nicely, runs as it should, so I am happy, back on the road for next week.
