You needn't crane it out to swap the manifold but it is a bit of a fiddle. I'd be fairly sure that the ZX is different, being later and the 1.9 TD manifold clearly doesn't fit. It isn't easy creating a monster!

I think the difference is only in the turbo outlet elbow. The 405/BX type is a very short 90degree elbow. The ZX td one is much longer (like about 4"-6" longer) The good news is that it can be changed in situ.

Yeah, pull the O/S driveshaft out, if it's in? It'll give you enough access to swop the elbow over.

Even if you have to change the whole manifold, it's easy enough with the engine in situ if you're good at feeling your way around the nuts!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Blimey, I'm getting fairly good at changing turbo's now, since I blow one up every other week  so all my bolts are nice and easy to undo!

Cant see using the BX turbo complete will make any difference TBH Jon, as long as it spins it'll boost!

Wouldn't the bx turbo be smaller as it is from a smaller engine?

Both 1.7 and 1.9 use the same turbos - either Garret T2 or KKK K 14's

Not much power difference either - which is probably due to breathing problems with the head - and explains why the 2.1 had a 3 valve head.

Well done Jon, all worth it in the end then!
The security valve return always seems to fracture! Duno why....

Er, Total Quartz 7000 in a weezel??

Blimey, brave man! I use 5000 in the derv and 7000 in the valver...

As for the boost, go for it, but dont go as mad as I did, 5 turbos, 2 intercoolers, 2 heads, all in the space of 6000miles!

Things falling off Halfrauds, ah........

I just reckon using a 10/40 in an engine with a few miles on maybe a bit, er, well, thin!
