Hi all
Just thought i'd let u know that my meteor passed her mot. Interestingly the noise that i get when i put her into reverse is actualy the starter motor catching sooooooo i have now found that if i put the key in the ignition i can start the car by putting her into reverse!!! anyone know ought about this?

Is it manual or auto?
Sounds like something is shorting in the reversing light circuit - most likely in the common parts shared with the starter circuit - so the common looms would be my first suspect.
I'd start by having a really good look around for physical damage - then I'd remove the connection to the reversing light switch and re-wire that either to the rear cluster or (neater) to a point where the loom wasn't shared with the starter circuit - making sure I disconnected (and carefully insulated) the now redundant newly by passed wire.
