My 1.6 Meteor, J544 VHJ, passed its MOT at the start of May, and is now active again after nearly 3 years being laid up.
It needed various jobs for the MOT:
Welding in the rear of the sills area and rear floor pan.
New fuel pipe (centre section).
New hydraulic pipes (at rear junction).
The engine was also tuned up; the previous owner had tampered with the carb, meaning it was running rich.
There are some ongoing jobs with the car:
Cosmetic tidy up/respray some panels.
Fit radio.
Change coolant/flush radiator.
Renew front flexi brake hoses.
Renew Steering servo before next MOT.
Fix very poor welding in n/s inner wing.
In the longer term, I'm seeking:
Set of wheel trims.
Proper Meteor tailgate.
Rear n/s quarter panel.
The car had a rear shunt at some stage, meaning the corner panel had to be panel beaten out (abliet badly), and the tailgate is not original.
Apart from that it's a good car, and has been around the same (Colchester) area all its life.
