Gearboxs

Post by kiwi »

I saw a xantia gearbox on trademe and it says compatible with the peugyrot series and also the BX.
Now does that mean the same for the BX being usable on the same range of cars?

I'm not quite "getting" your question here mate?

If you mean will any gearbox fit any car in the PSA range, then, well, kinda..

Pretty much any gearbox for an XU engine will fit any other XU engine (in the case of pug / cit you may need to change the stick linkages) and any TU box ditto.

If your question was actually asking something I've missed then disregard the above for I know nuffin'!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Yea sorry the Gearbox is no longer on Trademe so cnat exactly explain what its wording was.

Basically it said Pug/Cit Gearbox from Citreon Xantia will fit Pug 205.305,405 etc and Cit BX. Which made me wonder if the BX would fit those cars.

One of the things that does change is the clutch operating system - which could cause some amusement.

These gearboxes were also made with a huge number of ratios and are quite model specific - for example most estates have shorter ratios than their saloon equivalents.
