Speedo Question

Am going to look at a BX diesel auto this weekend all being well.

Apparently the speedo doesnt work. My first thoughts are that it'd be the cable or maybe the speedo head.

Is there any chance it could be anything more serious in the gearbox end?

Speedo drive is the same as on manuals. So it's unlikely to be a problem
They think it's all over, it is now!
