I dont bother with the fuel guage, i just calculate 100 miles = 10 litres, so when it hits empty to fill back up is 50 litres & i average around 500 miles.
I do have the extra tank on as well, so 66 litres in total, so quite a good fuel range. Mind u, when i nearly ran out of fuel (the low fuel warning light doesnt work) & put in 65.5 litres, woops!!!!

Nope works out as 65p per litre for Premium ( 96 octane) 61p for 91 Octane (what my other car loves) and 41p for diesel. Diesel looks cheap until you add the seperate road user charge.Ah but is your standard unleaded 98.9p a litre? For the first time that I can remember diesel is currently cheaper than standard unleaded here.
Looks good to vistors with excahnge rates etc etc but for us that live here on a day to day basis we have seen the fuel flucturate by nearly 50% over the last 12 months.
I try to keep my fuel tank low when I know our monthly shop is due as we can save $10. Trick is the Russian Roulette getting to the service station without running out when its 80 km without a service station. Managed to do it with the orange light flickering on putting in 65.28 ltrs was close to say the least
I do remember a time in the past when Diesel in the UK was cheaper than petrol, was about 5 years or so ago when the extra tax was put on it. Shocking I think I still have a disc lurking around from when we had our service station in the UK.
